Triclabendazole

Description

Triclabendazole is a broad-spectrum anthelmintic used to treat infections caused by flukes (trematodes), particularly Fasciola hepatica (liver fluke) and Fasciola gigantica. It works by inhibiting the microtubule formation in the parasite’s cells, disrupting their metabolism and leading to the parasite’s death. Triclabendazole is primarily used to treat fascioliasis, a parasitic infection often acquired through the ingestion of contaminated water or food. This drug is particularly effective against adult and immature stages of liver flukes, which are resistant to many other anti-parasitic treatments.
