Metronidazole Plain/ Benzoate

Description

Metronidazole is an antimicrobial medication widely used for the treatment of various bacterial and protozoal infections. It is available in two forms: Metronidazole Plain (typically used as an active pharmaceutical ingredient) and Metronidazole Benzoate (the benzoate salt form, often used in topical and oral formulations). Both forms are effective against a broad range of anaerobic bacteria, protozoa, and some other pathogens.

Metronidazole works by inhibiting the DNA synthesis of bacteria and protozoa, which leads to their cell death. This medication is used to treat infections such as trichomoniasis, amoebiasis, bacterial vaginosis, giardiasis, and infections caused by anaerobic bacteria. It is often administered orally, topically, or via intravenous injection, depending on the infection and its severity.

Metronidazole Plain is commonly used in the production of different dosage forms like tablets, capsules, and suspensions, while Metronidazole Benzoate is used primarily in topical preparations and oral suspension formulations.
