Lumefantrine

Description

Lumefantrine is an antimalarial drug that is commonly used in combination with artemether to treat uncomplicated malaria caused by Plasmodium falciparum, the most deadly species of malaria parasite. The combination of lumefantrine and artemether is known as Artemether-Lumefantrine (AL), which is one of the most widely used artemisinin-based combination therapies (ACTs). This combination works synergistically to rapidly clear the malaria parasite from the bloodstream and reduce the risk of resistance.
