Ketoconazole

Description

Ketoconazole is a broad-spectrum antifungal agent from the imidazole class, used to treat a variety of fungal infections. It works by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, an essential component of fungal cell membranes, thereby disrupting the cell membrane’s integrity and leading to fungal cell death. Ketoconazole is effective for treating superficial fungal infections, such as athlete’s foot, ringworm, and dandruff, as well as systemic infections when oral formulations are used.
