Albendazole

Description

Albendazole is a broad-spectrum anthelmintic medication used to treat a variety of parasitic worm infections. It works by inhibiting the polymerization of tubulin, which is necessary for the formation of microtubules in the parasite’s cells. This disrupts their cellular processes, leading to the death of the worm. Albendazole is effective against a wide range of helminths (worms) including roundworms, tapeworms, hookworms, and pinworms, as well as certain protozoal infections. It is commonly used in treating both intestinal and systemic parasitic infections.
