Meropenam

Description

Meropenem is a broad-spectrum, carbapenem-class antibiotic that is used to treat serious bacterial infections. It is effective against a wide range of Gram-positive, Gram-negative, and anaerobic bacteria. Meropenem is often prescribed for infections that are resistant to other antibiotics and is typically used in a hospital setting to treat severe or complicated infections, such as those involving the respiratory system, the bloodstream, the abdomen, or the central nervous system.

Meropenem is structurally related to imipenem but has better pharmacokinetics and is more stable against beta-lactamase enzymes, which makes it effective against resistant bacterial strains.
