Ursodeoxycholic Acid (Udca)

Description

Ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) is a naturally occurring bile acid that is used as a medication to treat certain liver diseases and disorders related to bile flow. It is derived from the bile acids of bears and other animals and is chemically similar to chenodeoxycholic acid, a bile acid found in human bile. UDCA helps to improve liver function, reduce liver damage, and increase bile flow. It is especially useful in managing cholestatic liver diseases, where bile flow is impaired, as well as in other conditions where bile acids may be toxic to the liver.
