Fenbendazole

Description

Fenbendazole is a broad-spectrum anthelmintic medication used to treat various parasitic infections caused by nematodes, cestodes, and other helminths. It belongs to the benzimidazole class of drugs, which work by inhibiting the formation of microtubules within the parasite, thereby disrupting its ability to absorb nutrients, leading to the parasite’s death. Fenbendazole is commonly used in veterinary medicine but has also been studied for use in humans in certain parasitic conditions.

Fenbendazole is effective against a wide range of intestinal parasites and is most frequently used to treat roundworms, hookworms, whipworms, tapeworms, and giardia in both companion and livestock animals.
